ABOUT THE WINE
Tenuta San Guido is the iconic Bolgheri estate renowned for pioneering Super Tuscans, particularly the legendary Sassicaia. Guidalberto, introduced in 2000 after 20+ years of experimentation, is a Bordeaux-style blend (typically Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) from estate vineyards, offering approachable elegance with aging potential—distinct from Sassicaia and not merely a "second wine" but a standalone expression. The 2023 Guidalberto shines despite a challenging vintage with mildew pressure: deep purple-red hue with an intricate nose of lavender, blackcurrant, thyme, citrus hints, dark cherry, plum, Mediterranean herbs, spice, and subtle floral notes. The palate is fresh, medium- to full-bodied, with polished tannins, vibrant acidity, juicy red/black fruits, mineral tension, salinity, and a clean, refined finish.
