Bellavista, founded in 1977 by Vittorio Moretti in Erbusco, Lombardy, is a cornerstone of Franciacorta’s sparkling wine legacy. Spanning 207 hectares across 107 vineyards, the winery harnesses the region’s glacial soils and mild climate near Lake Iseo to craft world-class sparkling wines. Under Francesca Moretti and winemaker Richard Geoffroy, formerly of Dom Pérignon, Bellavista blends tradition with innovation. Its 1,500,000-bottle annual production follows organic viticulture, emphasizing hand-harvesting and manual riddling. The winery’s commitment to quality and sustainability has earned global acclaim, making Bellavista a symbol of Italian craftsmanship rivaling Champagne.
Bellavista Franciacorta Extra Brut Pas Operé DOCG 2018 is a blend of 62% Chardonnay and 38% Pinot Noir from 40 select vineyard parcels in Franciacorta. Hand-harvested grapes are gently pressed, with 50% of the must fermented in small oak barrels. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and ages 36 months on lees, followed by manual disgorging. With a 12.5% ABV, it features a fine, persistent perlage and no dosage, emphasizing purity. This vintage, aged six years post-harvest, reflects Bellavista’s dedication to complexity and terroir-driven elegance.
The 2018 Gran Cuvée Pas Operé shines with a bright straw-yellow hue and golden reflections. Its bouquet is enveloping, with elegant notes of wildflower honey, apple, and chamomile, accented by vanilla and mineral hints. On the palate, it’s dry, fresh, and creamy, with vibrant acidity and a refined structure. Flavors of citrus, toasted hazelnut, and brioche unfold, supported by a mineral backbone from Franciacorta’s limestone soils. The long, harmonious finish highlights its complexity, making it ideal for seafood or as an aperitif.
