Bellavista, founded in 1977 by Vittorio Moretti in Erbusco, Lombardy, is a cornerstone of Franciacorta’s sparkling wine legacy. Spanning 207 hectares across 107 vineyards, the winery harnesses the region’s glacial soils and mild climate near Lake Iseo to craft world-class sparkling wines. Under Francesca Moretti and winemaker Richard Geoffroy, formerly of Dom Pérignon, Bellavista blends tradition with innovation. Its 1,500,000-bottle annual production follows organic viticulture, emphasizing hand-harvesting and manual riddling. The winery’s commitment to quality and sustainability has earned global acclaim, making Bellavista a symbol of Italian craftsmanship rivaling Champagne.
Bellavista Teatro alla Scala Franciacorta Brut DOCG 2020 is a blend of 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir, sourced from 50 select vineyard parcels in Franciacorta. Hand-harvested grapes undergo gentle pressing, with 30% of the base wines fermented in small oak barrels for seven months. The wine matures on lees for 36 months, followed by manual disgorging. It has a 12.5% ABV and features a fine, persistent perlage. Crafted using the Metodo Classico, this vintage showcases meticulous vineyard selection and oak aging, ensuring a balanced, complex expression of Franciacorta’s limestone-rich terroir.

TASTING NOTE:

This 2020 Franciacorta Brut dazzles with an intense straw-yellow hue and fine, persistent bubbles. The bouquet opens with elegant hawthorn and elderflower notes, followed by balsamic hints of laurel, candied citrus, and delicate pastry. On the palate, it’s aristocratic and creamy, with a statuesque balance of crisp acidity and rich fruit. Flavors of ripe peach, pink grapefruit, and toasted almond unfold, underpinned by a mineral backbone from limestone soils. The finish is long, complex, and refreshing, making it an ideal aperitif or pairing with seafood, risotto, or light cheeses.
