ABOUT THE WINE

Les Pagodes de Cos represents the second wine of Château Cos d'Estournel, one of Bordeaux's most prestigious Second Growth estates. Created in 1994, it was named in reference to the two pagoda-style buildings that characterize the château's distinctive architecture. Les Pagodes de Cos is crafted with the same meticulous attention as the grand vin, utilizing a 100% gravity-flow winemaking facility - a pioneering approach in the region. The wine is produced from dedicated vineyard plots with vines averaging 40 years of age. Each winemaker is personally responsible for 45,000 vines, ensuring meticulous attention to detail throughout the growing season.

TASTING NOTE:

The 2021 Les Pagodes de Cos presents a complex aromatic profile of freshly crushed blackberries, redcurrants, and cassis, complemented by subtle notes of Sichuan pepper, dusty soil, tobacco, and spice box. The wine's medium-bodied palate delivers good intensity of herbs-laced black fruits with a firm grainy texture and a long refreshing finish. With its blend of 60% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, this second wine of Cos d'Estournel showcases the classic Saint-Estèphe style with its characteristic balance of fruit and structure.
