La Dame de Montrose is the second wine of Château Montrose, one of the most prestigious estates in Saint-Estèphe, Bordeaux. As a second wine, it represents an important tradition in Bordeaux winemaking, offering a more accessible entry point to the house style while maintaining the high standards of its parent château. La Dame de Montrose emerged during a period of significant evolution in Bordeaux's second wine tradition. The practice of creating second wines became increasingly sophisticated in the latter half of the 20th century, with estates recognizing the value of separating lots that didn't meet their strict first wine criteria rather than selling them off in bulk.
