ABOUT THE WINE

Winemaker Tony Bish is literally ‘living the dream’, producing his beloved chardonnay in his urban winery in Hawke’s Bay. He’s daring to be different and loving every grape-soaked moment of it. Nowadays, Tony is forging his own way forward with a future exclusively focused on innovation with Chardonnay. Tony Bish Wines was launched in 2013, and produces six chardonnay styles direct to fellow chardonnay lovers around the country and, increasingly, around the world.
The Skeetfield Vineyard has old vine dry-farmed Mendoza Chardonnay vines. The fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed with minimal settling. This wine was 100% barrel fermented and matured, with 60% new Taransaud French oak. Indigenous ferment and malo-lactic ferment have provided complexity and depth. Battonage on lees has yielded a superb textural quality. Minimal handling to bottling has preserved the purity and intensity of the wine. Skeetfield is a wine with exceptional power and grace, and will greatly reward the patient.

TASTING NOTE:

Lifted notes of citrus, hazelnut, vanilla and roasted peach. The palate is rich and creamy with silky tannins. Flavours of grapefruit, roasted peach, biscotti, and hazelnut with an oyster shell mineral finish. Tremendous power and length.

It is a perfect pairing for seafood, poultry, and creamy pasta dishes.
