ABOUT THE WINE

San Polo Montalcino is a distinguished organic winery in the heart of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG zone, renowned for elegant, terroir-driven Sangiovese wines. Acquired in 2007 by Marilisa Allegrini (of the famed Valpolicella Allegrini family) and now run with her daughters Carlotta and Caterina, the estate spans 22 hectares (about 54 acres) at 450 meters elevation on the cooler southeastern slopes of Montalcino. This location provides a breezy microclimate with significant day-night temperature swings, ideal for producing fresh, aromatic Brunellos. The winery emphasizes sustainability and regenerative viticulture. It was the first in Tuscany to earn CasaClima certification (like LEED) and operates an innovative, largely underground cellar that blends tradition with modern eco-friendly practices. All wines are 100% estate-grown and bottled.
San Polo Brunello di Montalcino 2020 750ml is an elegant expression of 100% Sangiovese from the prestigious Montalcino region in Tuscany, organic and regenerative viticulture on the southeastern slopes of Montalcino. The 2020 vintage in Montalcino was hot and dry but delivered wines with surprising freshness, brightness, and balance thanks to careful vineyard management. It offers great character, complexity, and strong aging potential.

TASTING NOTE:

Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Aromas of violet, red berries, cherry, underbrush, and subtle spice. On the palate, it shows vibrant red fruit, elegant structure, fresh acidity, and refined tannins, leading to a long, harmonious finish.
