ABOUT THE WINE


Azienda Agricola Rallo, nestled in western Sicily, boasts a rich legacy spanning over 160 years. Founded in 1860 by visionary Don Diego Rallo in Marsala, it pioneered Marsala wines and Passito di Pantelleria, exporting to Europe and the Americas. In 1996, the Vesco family from Alcamo acquired the historic baglio estate and brand, merging it with their vineyards to shift from bulk and fortified wines to premium dry whites. Today, operating certified organic vineyards (BioSuisse, BioAgricert since 2011) across Alcamo (Catarratto, Nero d'Avola), Marsala (Grillo), and Pantelleria (Zibibbo), Rallo crafts fragrant, terroir-driven wines. Early harvests and sustainable dry-farming yield crisp, elegant expressions of Sicilian natives.
RALLO BELEDA DOP SICILIA 2021 is a pure Catarratto (100%), Sicily's ancient white grape, sourced from the finest certified organic hillside vineyards in Alcamo, western Sicily. Vines (4,000–5,000/ha) are dry-farmed with Guyot/cordon pruning, vertical trellising, and biodiversity aids like wild herbs and sentinel roses—no synthetic chemicals. Grapes are hand-harvested early for freshness, gently pressed, and fermented in stainless steel. Lees aging (several months) adds complexity and mouthfeel without oak influence. Bottled unfiltered or lightly filtered, it clocks 13% ABV, with natural cork closure.


TASTING NOTE:


Pale greenish-yellow with straw hues gleams in the glass, evoking Sicily's sun-drenched coasts. The bouquet bursts with vibrant citrus—grapefruit, lime, bergamot—interwoven with ripe peach, white flowers, green apple, and subtle herbal/mineral smoky hints. On the palate, it's round and creamy yet tense: pineapple, tropical fruits, melon, salted lemon, and oyster-shell salinity dance with bright acidity and creamy lees texture. Fresh, herbal lift leads to a long, citrus-zesty finish with balanced freshness. Versatile for seafood, fresh cheeses, or white fish.
