Azienda Agricola Rallo, nestled in western Sicily, boasts a rich legacy spanning over 160 years. Founded in 1860 by visionary Don Diego Rallo in Marsala, it pioneered Marsala wines and Passito di Pantelleria, exporting to Europe and the Americas. In 1996, the Vesco family from Alcamo acquired the historic baglio estate and brand, merging it with their vineyards to shift from bulk and fortified wines to premium dry whites. Today, operating certified organic vineyards (BioSuisse, BioAgricert since 2011) across Alcamo (Catarratto, Nero d'Avola), Marsala (Grillo), and Pantelleria (Zibibbo), Rallo crafts fragrant, terroir-driven wines. Early harvests and sustainable dry-farming yield crisp, elegant expressions of Sicilian natives.
RALLO BIANCO MAGGIORE DOP SICILIA 2024 is a 100% Grillo white wine from certified organic vineyards in the Marsala area, western Sicily. Grillo vines grow on calcareous soils with Guyot training and dry-farming practices—no synthetic inputs. Grapes are hand-harvested at night in September for optimal freshness and low temperature. Gently pressed, the must undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by 4–6 months on fine lees for added texture and complexity, without oak. Lightly filtered, bottled under Diam cork. Alcohol ~12.5–13% ABV.


TASTING NOTE:


Bright straw yellow with greenish glints in the glass. The nose opens with vibrant citrus—grapefruit, lemon, lime—blended with tropical notes of pineapple, mango, papaya, ripe peach, and white flowers (mimosa, jasmine). Subtle herbal and mineral undertones evoke saline sea breezes. On the palate, it's dry, medium-bodied, and well-rounded: juicy tropical fruits meet crisp grapefruit zest, green apple, and pronounced minerality. Fresh acidity provides tension and lift, while creamy lees aging adds texture without heaviness. Finishes long, saline, and harmoniously balanced with lingering citrus and stony freshness. Excellent as an aperitif or with seafood, sushi, white fish, or fresh cheeses. Highly drinkable and modern Sicilian expression.
