Château Camensac is a 5th Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, located in Saint-Laurent-Médoc within the Haut-Médoc appellation, bordering Saint-Julien. Its deep gravel soils on a ridge produce wines with elegance and structure akin to its prestigious neighbours. Originally dating back to the 16th century, the estate was acquired by the Merlaut family (owners of Gruaud-Larose and others) in 2005, who have significantly elevated quality through sustainable practices, HEV3 certification, and expert consulting. Château Camensac Haut-Médoc 2021 is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot, with alcohol at 13.5%. Vinification is traditional in stainless steel, followed by 17-20 months aging in French oak barrels.
Dark, shining garnet colour with a bouquet of fresh rose, blackberry, blackcurrant, and subtle floral complexity with gunflint and spice on aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with silky structure, juicy red and black fruits, soft integrated tannins, finesse, and a lingering black cherry finish—elegant, approachable yet age-worthy.
