ABOUT THE WINE
Elvio Cogno is a respected family estate in Novello, in the heart of the Barolo region of Piedmont, Italy. Led by Valter Fissore (Elvio’s son-in-law), the winery is credited with single-handedly rescuing Nascetta — the only indigenous white grape variety of the Langhe — from near extinction. Once popular in the 19th century, this rare variety has been lovingly revived by Cogno since the mid-1990s. Anas-Cëtta 2023 is a pure Langhe Nascetta di Novello DOC, sourced from about 2 hectares of vineyards. It is fermented and aged partly in stainless steel and partly in large Slavonian oak barrels for 6 months, preserving freshness while adding subtle complexity. This vibrant white offers fragrant aromas of white flowers, ripe melon, yellow peach, pear, citrus, ginger, and fresh herbs. On the palate, it is juicy and textured with bright acidity, mineral notes, light almond bitterness, and a clean, sapid finish. A fascinating and versatile Piedmontese white — perfect as an aperitif or with seafood and creamy dishes.
