Cascina Roccalini is a small, passionate family estate located in the heart of the Barbaresco DOCG in Piedmont, Italy. Owned by young oenologist Paolo Veglio, the domaine began bottling its own wines in 2003–2004 after previously selling its prized grapes to the legendary Bruno Giacosa. Today, it farms around 9 hectares using organic practices, with a strong focus on the Roccalini vineyard site known for its excellent white marl-limestone soils. Barbaresco 2020 is a traditional, elegant expression of 100% Nebbiolo. The 2020 vintage produced a bright, vibrant wine with fragrant aromas of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petals, violet, sweet spices, and subtle tar/mineral notes. On the palate, it offers juicy red fruit, silky yet structured tannins, lively acidity, and a long, refined finish with hints of licorice and undergrowth. Approachable now, it will reward further aging.
