ABOUT THE WINE
Elvio Cogno is a prestigious family estate in Novello, Piedmont's Langhe region. Founded in 1990 by Elvio Cogno after leaving Marcarini, it focuses on traditional, elegant Nebbiolo from top crus like Ravera. Montegrilli Langhe Nebbiolo (from 1.4 ha sandy-rich vineyards at ~420m) is a fresh, no-oak entry-level expression dedicated to Elvio's grandfather Eugenio—emphasizing pure Nebbiolo character, immediacy, and drinkability over Barolo-style power. The 2023 Montegrilli is vibrant and classic: deep ruby with orange rim. The nose bursts with harmonious floral-fruity-spicy notes, pomegranate, red currant, rose, violet, orange blossom, nutmeg, and subtle spice. The palate is lively, streamlined, and elegant, soft powdery tannins, bright acidity, savory crunch, and a fresh, sapid finish.
