ABOUT THE WINE
Domaine Philippe Garrey is a small, family-run estate in Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu at the southern end of the Mercurey appellation in Côte Chalonnaise, Burgundy. The family has deep roots here for over 200 years; Philippe took over around 2000–2005 from his father, quickly converting the domaine to biodynamic practices, emphasizing sustainable, low-intervention winemaking to express the terroir's marl, clay, and limestone soils. The 2021 Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Paradis comes from old vines (around 60 years) on marl-clay soils in this Premier Cru climat. It offers a deep ruby hue with aromas of cassis, cherry, red fruits, subtle spice, and earthy minerality.
