Caliterra, founded in 1996 as a joint venture between Robert Mondavi and Viña Errázuriz (fully owned by Errázuriz since 2004), is a pioneering sustainable winery in Chile's Colchagua Valley. Named from "calidad" (quality) and "tierra" (land), it emphasizes environmental stewardship, with certifications for sustainability and organic practices. 100% Sauvignon Blanc from select parcels in cool-climate Casablanca Valley on granitic-clay soils influenced by Pacific breezes. Hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel with partial lees aging for texture. Alcohol ~13%. Pale yellow with green hues; elegant nose of grapefruit, mango, orange blossom, flinty minerals, and saline notes. Voluptuous yet vibrant palate with creamy texture, crisp acidity, and persistent freshness.
