La Spinetta, founded in 1977 by Giuseppe "Pin" Rivetti in Castagnole Lanze, Piedmont, is an iconic modern winery revolutionized by Giorgio Rivetti. Starting with acclaimed Moscato, it expanded to reds in the 1980s, pioneering single-vineyard Barbaresco and Barolo. Famous for rhinoceros-labeled bottles, it emphasizes indigenous grapes and passionate, approachable winemaking. 100% Nebbiolo from younger vines in prestigious Barbaresco crus (Starderi, Valeirano, Gallina, Campè) in Neive. Maceration and fermentation 14-15 days in temperature-controlled vats; malolactic in used French oak; aged ~12 months in barrel. Alcohol ~14%. Bright ruby; broad aromas of fresh red berries, rose petals, violets, and spice. Elegant, medium-bodied palate with juicy cherry-plum fruit, velvety tannins, vibrant acidity, and persistent finish.
