ABOUT THE WINE
Château Grand Corbin-Despagne is a historic family-owned estate in northern Saint-Émilion, adjacent to Pomerol. Owned by the Despagne family since 1812 (now seventh generation under François Despagne), it spans ~28 hectares on ancient sandy-clay soils with iron deposits. Certified 100% organic since 2013, it holds Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé status. Blend of 70% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Franc, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Hand-harvested; aged 12-18 months in French oak (40% new, 50% one-year, 10% two-year barrels for 2014). Alcohol ~13%. Medium-bodied with herbal olive notes alongside ripe plum and black fruits. Fresh, balanced with fine tannins; elegant cherry-truffle hints emerge with age.
