Castello di Neive Arneis Langhe DOC 2023, a luminous white from Piedmont's Langhe hills, resurrects the nearly extinct Arneis grape. The story traces to the 1970s, when visionary Italo Stupino at this storied 16th-century castle estate in Neive crafted the first varietal Arneis for his red-wary wife, sparking a revival that now claims over 500 hectares. Acquired in 1990 by the Marchesi di Barolo group, the 82-hectare domaine blends history with modern sustainability, nurturing 40-year-old Arneis vines on calcareous-clay soils in the Montebertotto cru. Tasting notes gleam with a pale straw hue and an inviting nose of ripe peach, green apple, lemon zest, white flowers, almond blossom, and a flinty mineral edge. Light- to medium-bodied, it caresses the palate with zesty citrus peel, juicy pear, subtle tropical whispers, and vibrant acidity, framed by silky texture and a saline, almond-kissed finish.
