ABOUT THE WINE

Famille Pierre Gaillard is a celebrated winemaking dynasty rooted in the sun-drenched hills of France's Northern Rhône Valley. Founded in 1981 by Pierre Gaillard—a passionate viticulturist trained in Beaune and Montpellier—the family estate began humbly in Malleval. Pierre, alongside his wife Pascale, cleared rocky terrains and planted their inaugural vines at Clos de Cuminaille in the Saint-Joseph appellation, reviving ancient Roman-era sites by hand. Today, spanning over 77 hectares across Saint-Joseph, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Crozes-Hermitage, and extensions into Faugères and Banyuls, the domaine embodies schist-rich terroirs that yield elegant, complex wines. Pierre's children—Jeanne, Pierre-Antoine, and Elise—now co-steer the venture, upholding sustainable practices and a finesse-driven philosophy. Their Syrahs burst with violet, pepper, and mineral depth, while Viogniers offer floral opulence. Hailed by critics for purity and balance, Famille Pierre Gaillard wines capture the Rhône's wild, timeless spirit.
In the sun-kissed plains of the northern Rhône Valley, France, Jeanne Gaillard's Marsanne 2022 shines as a pure expression of the ancient Marsanne grape from IGP Collines Rhodaniennes. Daughter of renowned winemaker Pierre Gaillard, Jeanne launched her domaine in 2008 at age 24, acquiring 8 hectares of vines on sandy, well-draining soils around Crozes-Hermitage. The 2022 vintage, blessed with a mild winter and balanced summer, delivered ripe yet fresh grapes, hand-harvested with sustainable practices. Gentle pressing and lees aging in stainless steel preserve its vibrant purity at 13% ABV. This full-bodied white embodies youthful generosity, showcasing Jeanne's bold, terroir-driven vision.

TASTING NOTE:

The 2022 Marsanne opens with an inviting nose of ripe apricot, white peach, and honeysuckle, laced with subtle almond blossom and a whisper of citrus zest. Hints of acacia and wet stone add mineral intrigue. On the palate, it's round and unctuous, with a creamy texture from lees contact, balanced by lively acidity that keeps it refreshingly crisp. Flavors of baked pear, golden apple, and tropical lychee unfold, underpinned by soft tannins for harmonious structure. A saline minerality emerges mid-palate, leading to a long, mouthwatering finish echoing citrus peel and brioche. Approachable yet elegant, it pairs beautifully with grilled fish, creamy cheeses, or herb-roasted chicken. Serve chilled; critics praise its fruit-forward poise and value.
