ABOUT THE WINE

Voyager Estate, established in 1978 by Michael Wright, is a cornerstone of Western Australia’s Margaret River wine region, located in the Stevens Valley of the Wallcliffe sub-region. Renowned for its organic, estate-grown wines, particularly Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon blends, the winery spans 110 hectares of gravelly loam vineyards, benefiting from a maritime climate ideal for producing elegant, terroir-driven wines. Fully certified organic since 2023, Voyager emphasizes sustainability through practices like composting and minimal intervention, under the leadership of Chief Winemaker Tim Shand and owner Alexandra Burt. Its iconic Cape Dutch-style cellar door and award-winning restaurant offer tastings and degustation menus, earning accolades like Halliday Wine Companion’s “Winery of the Year” in 2020.

The 2014 Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River’s Wallcliffe sub-region is a distinguished, organically farmed wine, showcasing the estate’s mastery of this noble variety, crafted from hand-harvested fruit from the finest vineyard blocks, including Old Block (1978) and North Block 12 (1995). Comprising 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot, it offers a complex bouquet of dark blackcurrant, violets, cocoa, and cedar, with savory notes of olive and bay leaf, leading to a youthful, medium-to-full-bodied palate with tightly wound gravelly tannins, vibrant acidity, and rich cassis fruit, matured for 18 months in French oak (50% new).
