The winery is named after its founder, Elvio Cogno, who was a legendary winemaker and a key figure in the renaissance of the Barolo region in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, Elvio Cogno is run by Valter Fissore, Elvio's son-in-law, who has continued the winery's tradition of producing exceptional wines. The winery owns several vineyards in the Langhe, including some of the most prestigious sites in the region, such as Ravera and Bricco Pernice. Cogno Barbaresco Bordini 2018 is an outstanding example of the high-quality Nebbiolo wines produced in the Barbaresco DOCG of Piedmont. The wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes that are grown in the Bordini vineyard, which is known for producing wines with great elegance and finesse.
Cogno Barbaresco Bordini 2018 is characterized by its deep garnet color, complex aromas of red fruit, spices, and floral notes, and its firm, well-structured tannins. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and powerful, with concentrated flavors of black cherry, raspberry, and licorice, as well as subtle hints of leather and tobacco. The tannins are firm and well-integrated, giving the wine a long, persistent finish.
Cogno Barbaresco Bordini 2018 is a classic match for rich, full-flavored dishes like beef, lamb, or game, as well as truffles, mushrooms, and aged cheeses.
