ABOUT THE WINE

Founded in 2001 by siblings Marilisa Allegrini and Walter Allegrini from the historic Allegrini family of Valpolicella (Veneto), it marked their bold venture beyond their native region to explore Bolgheri's exceptional terroir and coastal influence. The name "Poggio al Tesoro" translates to "hill of treasure," reflecting the precious land they discovered. Starting with just a few hectares, the estate has grown to over 100 hectares (with about 64 under vine), spread across four distinct plots: Le Sondraie, Via Bolgherese, Chiesina di San Giuseppe, and Valle di Cerbaia. This diversity allows for varied soils and microclimates, emphasizing varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Vermentino. Marilisa Allegrini now leads the winery with her daughters, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and tradition. Flagship wines include Sondraia Bolgheri Superiore and Dedicato a Walter (a rare 100% Cabernet Franc). Today, it stands as one of Bolgheri's largest and most acclaimed estates.
Solosole is a 100% Vermentino from select coastal plots, The 2024 vintage, from a balanced growing season, features 14% alcohol, with manual night harvest, soft pressing, brief pre-fermentative skin maceration, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel (14-16°C for 20-25 days), no malolactic, lees aging in steel (with bâtonnage), and about 1 month bottle refinement.

TASTING NOTE:

Bright straw yellow with green hints, it opens with intense aromas of raw almonds, daffodils, tulips, lemons, yellow fruit (peach, apricot), white flowers, grapefruit, and subtle flint. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, juicy, and delicate, with lively acidity, pineapple notes (some dipped in tajín-like spice), mineral salinity, stone fruit, and a crisp, fragrant, saline finish—elegant, textured, and Mediterranean.
