ABOUT THE WINE

A lifelong ambassador of Allegrini wines, Marilisa Allegrini was the first Italian woman to appear on the cover of Wine Spectator and was recently named Cavaliere del Lavoro. She is the heroine of a unique story full of passion and foresight, dedication, and respect for the environment. A story that starts with the family business in Valpolicella - Veneto - and her arrival in Tuscany in 2001 to implement the ambitious production diversification project right here in this unique and multi-faceted terroir. San Polo is a proud representative of this project, with its organic vineyards, its certifications, its avant-garde cellar where sustainable architecture rules, and most importantly, with its forward-thinking philosophy. It is a captivating story, also intertwining the fate of her daughters Carlotta and Caterina, who today, alongside their mother, continue this entrepreneurial project with the values, ethics, and same spirit of innovation and determination that was once founded on the family’s great passion for wine.
Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine of great power and elegance. The ultimate expression of Sangiovese, Brunello is characterized in Montalcino by grapes that have slightly brown skins and unique, intense aromas and flavors. One of the best-known and most sought-after wines in the world, Brunellos age incredibly well and have become icons in Italian winemaking. At the Allegrini estate in Montalcino, San Polo’s Brunello is the result of tremendous respect for the land and an unwavering commitment for both quality and sustainability.

TASTING NOTE:

A deep ruby red colour with garnet hues, on the nose it reveals very complex notes of prunes, ripe cherry and small red berries, along with violet, aromatic wood and balsamic hints. On the palate it is warm, with a close-knit, full-bodied texture, and a long finish with well-defined tannins.

FOOD PAIRING:

Red meat, furred and feathered game, mushrooms and truffles. Excellent with cheese such as mature Tome, Parmigiano Reggiano and Tuscan pecorino.
