Castello di Ama is an ancient estate located in the hills of Chianti, in Tuscany, Italy. It is situated near the town of Gaiole in Chianti, in the province of Siena. The castle is surrounded by beautiful vineyards and olive groves and is renowned for the production of high-quality wines. Castello di Ama is known for its production of Chianti Classico, a traditional red wine from the Chianti region. The estate spans over 250 hectares, with approximately 90 hectares dedicated to vineyards.
Beginning in 1978, certain parcels were identified as possessing outstanding soil and microclimates due to extensive research into the terroir of the Castello di Ama vineyards. Vigneto La Casuccia, whose first vintage was 1985, was the first blend produced
from the separate harvesting of three parcels of Sangiovese and Merlot. The wine is produced in exceedingly limited quantities and only in the best vintages. Vigneto La Casuccia is an impactful wine. In many vintages, it emerges energetic, balanced, sensual and vivacious, requiring time to fully express its full potential.
