ABOUT THE WINE

The winery is named after its founder, Elvio Cogno, who was a legendary winemaker and a key figure in the renaissance of the Barolo region in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, Elvio Cogno is run by Valter Fissore, Elvio's son-in-law, who has continued the winery's tradition of producing exceptional wines. The winery owns several vineyards in the Langhe, including some of the most prestigious sites in the region, such as Ravera and Bricco Pernice. Cogno Ravera Barolo is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, which are grown in the Ravera vineyard, located in the Novello commune in the Barolo region. The Ravera vineyard is known for its high altitude and unique soil composition, which includes a mix of limestone and clay. These conditions result in grapes that are rich in flavor and tannins, and that can produce wines with great aging potential.

TASTING NOTE:

Deep ruby color with aromas of dark fruit, such as black cherry and blackberry, as well as a hint of spice and a subtle earthy note. On the palate, it is full-bodied with firm tannins and flavors of dark fruit, licorice, and a touch of leather.

FOOD PAIRING:

This wine is best paired with hearty meat dishes such as roasted lamb or beef, as well as aged cheeses. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a sipping wine.
